Our team of renowned doctors, oncologists, and cancer-fighting specialists have spent years treating cancers of all kinds, and we provide treatment for almost any kind of cancer, anywhere in the body. Liver cancer is among the most common forms of cancer, but with CyberKnife, we can treat various forms of liver cancers and tumors in our Los Angeles cancer center. Our liver tumor treatment is second to none!
About CyberKnife & the Los Angeles Cancer Center
The CyberKnife System is a revolutionary radiotherapy cancer treatment system that combines some of the most advanced technologies to produce one of the most powerful, convenient, and effective cancer treatments in the world. Los Angeles CyberKnife uses a robotic arm system to deliver precise, high-dose radiation to virtually any spot in the body with sub-millimeter accuracy. CyberKnife uses a world-class computer vision system to aid in finding the tumor, and thanks to its use of the Synchrony Respiratory Tracking System, CyberKnife can track the movement of the tumor from breathing and adjust for it in real time. This means that unlike other forms of radiotherapy, CyberKnife doesn’t require the use of uncomfortable braces and immobility devices – all the patient has to do is lie still as CyberKnife delivers radiation to the liver tumor with unparalleled precision.
Liver Tumors Treated with CyberKnife at the Los Angeles Oncology Center
CyberKnife can treat a wide variety of liver cancers. No matter what you’re facing, we’ll work with you to develop a treatment plan that will help you beat cancer and achieve total health. At Pasadena CyberKnife Center, we can treat any of the following liver tumors and more with our liver tumor treatment::
- Inoperable Liver Tumors: Inoperable tumors in the liver used to be nearly a death sentence, but thanks to the CyberKnife cancer treatment, there’s hope. Instead of using liver tumor surgery removal, CyberKnife uses precise, high-dose radiation to target the cancerous cells and prevent them from multiplying. Crippled and unable to subdivide, the tumor slowly shrinks as the cancerous cells die off. Plus, thanks to CyberKnife’s sub-millimeter accuracy, it’s able to deliver radiation directly to the liver tumor with minimal damage to healthy cells and tissues, producing minimal side effects.
- Recurrent Liver Tumors: Even if a liver cancer treatment is successful, there’s always a chance for recurrence. Recurrent liver tumors, or liver tumors that return even after treatment, can be difficult to treat because the liver may be partially compromised from previous treatments. Often, however, CyberKnife can deliver a treatment precise enough to eliminate the tumor without putting the liver in jeopardy.
- Metastatic Liver Tumors: Metastatic cancer refers to cancer that has spread to another part of the body from the original cancerous area. These metastatic cells are the same kind found in the cells of the original tumor. Often, metastatic tumors require a combination of treatment methods and therapies, but CyberKnife often plays a vital role in treating them. Your treatment team will work with you to find a comprehensive treatment method that works for your unique situation at our oncology center.
The CyberKnife Process & Liver Tumor Treatment
CyberKnife treatment is non-invasive, non-surgical, and performed entirely on an outpatient basis. Plus, the one-hour treatment sessions are simple and convenient: all you have to do is lie on the treatment bench normally, letting CyberKnife do all the work. Thanks to its use of advanced medical technology and world-class radiation therapy techniques, CyberKnife provides one of the most convenient cancer treatment processes in the world.
Treatment varies from patient to patient, but generally, we’ll complete your CyberKnife treatment in 1 to 5 sessions over the course of a week. Sessions last up to an hour, and you’re free to go about your day as normal after the session. We’ll start your treatment with planning sessions at our oncology clinic, where we’ll take a CT scan and learn as much as we can about your liver cancer, your health, your medical history, and any other relevant information. Our oncology center treatment team will work together to design a detailed treatment plan encompassing your radiation dosage, your treatment schedule, and any necessary follow-up appointments. After you finish your treatment sessions, you’ll come back to our Los Angeles cancer treatment center for periodic follow-up appointments to ensure the cancer is eliminated and the treatment was successful.
